A few thoughts about my journey with Tommy... (and trust me, the process of buying a home for the first time is definitely a journey):

I was a first time homebuyer with lots and lots of naive (read: dumb) questions and Tommy was always incredibly patient and interested in what I was asking, even though I'm sure he has heard the same ones a thousand times before.  I had a lot ideas and even more emotion. Tommy was able to be engaged with me on my interests while also keeping me grounded.  It was not an easy feat...

He helped my think through what type of place I truly wanted and what were my top priorities vs. things that would be "nice to have."  When you are on a budget, you have to make some tradeoffs, and with his help and seeing a wide spectrum of properties, I was able to find out what I really wanted in my new place. 

He has tremendous experience in the real estate market in the area and was able to guide me through the nuances of how the DC housing contract process works in a way that was simple and easy to understand. For a first time buyer, this was extremely helpful. He also knows a ton of the real estate agents in town and was able to find out about places that were just coming on the market before other agents.

Also, as someone who has also been on the seller side for numerous companies, he had a keen understanding of how much we could push for in negotiations and he ended up getting me my place with a significant price reduction.

Lastly, Tommy is incredibly nice and fun to be around, which makes the process much more enjoyable. You end spending a LOT of time with your realtor, so this was very important to me.  I strongly recommend working with Tommy.  He was a terrific, results-oriented agent who has now become a good friend. I will definitely be working with him again when I want to buy my next house!
